What is your job title?

Event Operations Director

What does that mean you actually do?

I manage all operations and logistics for the events we provide on-site registration for. This includes the quoting stage right through to delivery on-site, ensuring the registration design works well in terms of visitor flow, and also within the client’s budget. I manage the shipping of our equipment to all of our global events. On-site I am there to ensure the registration build is installed and tested before the event opens. During events we like to be hands on and help our clients in any way we can, along with managing the registration areas. Finally, I manage breakdown ensuring everything is packed away safely and returned to HQ.

What is the best part of your job?

It has to be the great team of people we have at Circdata! Getting to meet new people in the industry and travelling around the globe are up there too.

Are you a tea or coffee drinker?

I prefer tea, but if I am on-site I enjoy a nice latte from Costa.

What is the funniest thing that’s happened to you on-site?

I’ve had many funny moments over the years on-site, too many to pick one. I have been taped to a chair by my colleagues, had my phone taped to ceilings, and the worst one was splitting my trousers whilst on-site.

Tell me about your biggest challenge in setting up a show?

As many will know, working on-site presents many challenges. Something always crops up to hinder you! It could be shipped equipment arriving late, desk build being late and having to wait for the paint to dry, not having power or a WIFI network, or only being able to work at certain times while the length of build is short. It makes life interesting!
